Hi folks
As Andrew and I were now camped at Bungay it made sense to continue our Waveney adventure by paddling to Beccles.
This meant we could set off on the river directly from the campsite after running Andrew's car to Beccles.
We found a parking spot for Andrew's car but it wasn't very close to our get out spot. The get out did have some parking spaces , limited to thirty minutes which would be handy when we arrived back.
We returned to the campsite and packed up our tents leaving them in my car and set up our boats by the water's edge.
As we did a proud pair of swans with cygnets in line paddled past.
Once on the water we paddled past some new looking houses that looked a little too close to the water level which was still high.
Next came this enchanting view of a mill.
We couldn't resist a closer look.
The weather was very hot and I was soon in need of refreshment so when we saw a sign for the Wherry Inn we had to investigate and when we got there we found a cracking pub and sat outside in the sun.
Back on the water the weather looked threatening but stayed dry for now...
The river became wider and we began to see the houses of Beccles.
Some had interesting brick work and together they were a fascinating selection of roofs.
As we arrived at the get out the heavens opened in time to wash our boats as we put them on Andrew's car and returned to the site and then home after a fabulous few days of interesting and varied paddling.
Cheers
Alick
